History of Northwestern High School:

In 1921, the school site at Park Heights Avenue and Fallstaff Road began as the farm of former Republican State Senator O. E. Weller.  Nine years later, in 1930, the Hochschild and Kohn families purchased the estate who in turn relinquished it to the city of Baltimore in 1962.

Plans were then made for the development of a new high school for the northwestern portion of the city.  In 1966, Northwestern High School opened its doors to 10th and 11th graders with a population of 1000.  Over the next 40 years, Northwestern graduated over 20,000 students who have gone on to become successful and productive citizens of our country.  Today, Northwestern houses grades 9 – 12 with approximately 1,200 students with 100 faculty and staff.
